The best friends of 10 is the skill. Valentine's day is the season.
Punches purchased from Michael's and Walmart get lots of use for these integrated math/craft/reading (?) projects. Student math journals are bound together in a book at the end of the year. A student-made document they can read.
Could this be a math centre to culminate a unit with a focus on the best friends of ten? In a differentiated classroom some children would represent their learning this way, others would demonstrate the game "Fais 10" with their power of 10 cards, still others would play the online game "Add to Ten" to practice and demonstrate their skill.
